Lutheran West Core Values
All members of the Lutheran West community strive to uphold four core values, each beginning with a letter in W-E-S-T. By working toward these values and holding others to the same high standards, we can live out our mission of excellence in service, leadership, and learning.
Students, faculty, and staff are also encouraged to recognize the demonstration of these core values by others in our school community.
Win With Perseverence
Inspired by Phillipians 4:13
Developing Leaders Who Embrace Challenges
Lutheran West is committed to the growth and development of the next generation of leaders. Taking inspiration and encouragment from Phillipians 4:13, which says ‘I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me,’ students and faculty are encouraged to embrace challenges, adapt to change, find strength and courage in the face of adversity, and strategically solve problems.
Encourage Through Faith
Inspired by Hebrews 10:24-25
Living as Disciples Who Positively Serve Others
Members of the Lutheran West community are encouraged to share and mindfully demonstrate their Christian faith and values, approaching others with a servant’s heart and with the love, patience, and kindness modeled by Jesus. The inspiration for this core value comes from Hebrews 10:24-25, which tells us ‘And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works (24), not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another (25).’
Strive for Excellence
Inspired by Colossians 3:23
Prepared, Hard Working, Passionate, and Continuously Learning
Members of the Lutheran West community are expected and encouraged to take pride in their academic and extra-curricular pursuits through preparation, grit, determination, hard work, passion, and the humility to know that they can learn something new every day. We look to Colossians 3:23, which says ‘Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men‘ to remind us to put forth our best effort in all of our endeavors and to remember that the effort we put forth glorifies God and the unique gifts He has given each one of us.
Triumph With Integrity
Inspired by Proverbs 12:22
High Character, Attitude, and Actions
Members of the Lutheran West community are challenged to always be mindful of their words, choices, attitude, and actions, knowing that a person’s integrity is of the highest value. This core value is insipired by Proverbs 12:22: ‘Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are His delight.‘
