3.30.23
From Thursday 3/30 through Sunday 4/2, Lutheran West’s Jochum Performing Arts Center was transformed into River City, Iowa, a small town full of residents who are very set in their ways. That is, until professional conman Harold Hill arrives in town with every intention of selling residents musical instruments, sheet music, and band uniforms to form a town band. Despite the con he attempts to pull on the unsuspecting River City townsfolk, Harold Hill finds himself and the town transformed by his presence, and even finds romance along the way.
Harold Hill was played by Peter Seidl ’24, with the role of Marian Paroo played by Noelle Hanchuk ’23.
The show’s superb singing, dancing, and acting were performed by the largest cast in Lutheran West Drama history. For the first time in school history, the cast included Lutheran West middle school students, allowing the play’s children’s roles to be played by young actors closer in age to their characters’ ages.
Set design, lighting, sound, costumes, hair & makeup, and production staff rounded out the student and staff participation, with over 100 people working together on and off stage to make the show so spectacular. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew.
