On Friday, May 26, 2023, 108 students graduated as the Class of 2023 from Lutheran High School West in their commencement ceremony held at Grace Church in Middleburg Heights.
The Commencement Speaker was Charlene Coughlin, Class of 2001. She spoke to graduates about how Lutheran West will always remain their home, a place that they can return to throughout their lives whether physically or within the network of the close-knit Lutheran West community. Charlene is currently President & Partner at TWIST Creative, a full service advertising agency serving clients in Northeast Ohio and beyond. She is involved at Lutheran West as a member of the Operating Board, member of the Forward in Faith capital campaign cabinet, and chair of the annual OMNIA fundraising gala.
Graduate speakers included Jaipaul Singh and Noelle Hanchuk, both recipients of the school’s Christian Stewardship Award, a significant achievement that is given to students who display an active Christian lifestyle, lead others through Christian example, serve the Lord through service, represent Lutheran West well in the community, and are diligent and dedicated to their academic and extra-curricular pursuits.
Principal Mike Waugh ’02 shook the hands of each graduate at his final commencement ceremony as Lutheran West’s Principal. He will be taking on the role of Head of Schools for the Milwaukee Lutheran High School Association, which has four schools. The entire Lutheran West community wishes Mr. Waugh and his family the very best as they continue to serve the Lord in this next chapter of their lives.
