Exploration, Creativity, & Expression

Lutheran West is a place where students are encouraged to explore their creativity and God-given artistic talents. Regardless of whether a student has prior experience or is just beginning to discover the arts, all students will participate in some capacity in visual and performing arts during their time at West. 

We’re especially proud of our arts facilities, including the 490-seat Jochum Performing Arts Center, our music room, and two spacious, naturally lit fine arts studios with an on-site ceramics kiln.

The Jochum Fine Arts Conservatory

The Jochum Fine Arts Conservatory, scheduled to launch for the 2025-2026 school year, is a pre-professional program designed for students who are passionate about pursuing a future in the arts, whether in college or as a career.

Students in the Conservatory will be able to specialize in their chosen disciplines through dedicated curricular pathways in:

  • Theater Arts (Performance or Technical)
  • Visual Arts
  • Instrumental Music
  • Vocal Music
  • Dance

Through the ongoing Forward in Faith capital campaign, Lutheran West will expand and deepen the course selections available in The Jochum Fine Arts Conservatory. Below is a preview of the courses we hope to add or expand through donor support of this campaign.

  • Theater Arts: Introduction to Theater, Technical Theater, Advanced Theater, Set Design, Acting for Stage, Improv
  • Vocal Music: Music Theory, Chorale, Men’s Choir, Women’s Choir, Bel Canto, Joyful Noise
  • Instrumental Music: Music Theory, Band, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble Jazz Band
  • Visual Arts: Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Animation, Graphic Design, Game Design
  • Dance: Introduction to Dance, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Ballroom Dancing, Dance Composition
