Despite wins by freshman Adler Vasiloff and seniors Chance Huey and Andrew Liese, the Longhorn wrestlers could not defeat the Rangers of North Ridgeville in the second dual Thursday night. The wrestlers put up a good fight but lost some close decisions and could not overcome the four forfeits they gave to North Ridgeville.
The match started with a forfeit at 113 for North Ridgeville.  Sophomore state qualifier Tim Mecklenburg then had his toughest match of the season taking on senior state qualifier Drew Dickson at 120lbs.  Mecklenburg battled for three periods but Dickson was able to score two points in each period for a 6-0 victory.  Due to the time, the dual meet was being wrestled on two mats.  While Mecklenburg was battling on one mat, senior Bryce Deblock was fighting his own battle on the second mat.  Fighting sports induced asthma, Deblock came back from a big deficit but did not have enough in the tank for a win, losing 13-7.  North Ridgeville now had an 18-0 lead.
Freshman Vasiloff was able to put the Longhorns on the board with a commanding 8-2 win while Huey was dominating his North Ridgeville opponent on the other mat.  Huey came away with a 14-2 major decision.  Going into the 145lb match North Ridgeville led 18-7.  Unfortunately for the Longhorns the Rangers won at 145, 152, 160 and 170lbs.  Senior Liese was able to quickly pin his opponent with the Longhorn patented “Mediator”.  That was the final score for Lutheran West as North Ridgeville won at 195, 220, 285 and 106lbs.
