ROCKY RIVER --
Coming off of an exciting win over Keystone on Saturday night, the Lutheran West women’s basketball team looked to build some early momentum with another win. However, a slow start hindered the Longhorns and Cuyahoga Heights was able to come away with their third victory of the season.

The Longhorns had a poor first quarter in which they were only able to score two points. The team started to pick it up in the second quarter and finally peaked in the third quarter to close it at 30-29 with a Redskins advantage. However, Cuyahoga Heights was able to hit a pair of clutch free throws late in the fourth quarter that sealed the game.

Although LW arguably played the better second half of the match-up, it was the beginning that sealed their fate. The Longhorns’ struggles at the start of the game set the pace for the Redskins and allowed them to gain an early advantage, showing just how important it is for a team to start strong and stay strong.

In the loss, senior Lindsey Thomas had 15 points for the Longhorns.

The Longhorns fall to 1-2 on the early season. They return to action on Wednesday with a home match-up versus fellow PAC-12 member Firelands.
