ROCKY RIVER --
The Longhorns fell to the Brooklyn Hurricanes after only scoring 12 points in the second half of their Stripes Division matchup.
The first half of the game remained close with the lead going back and forth between both teams. However, in the final minutes of the second quarter, the Hurricanes turned a four point lead into a ten point lead. They were able to carry the momentum from the end of the half into the rest of the game and outscored the Longhorns by 17 points in the third and fourth quarters.
It seemed that the Hurricanes could do no wrong on Wednesday night. As a team, they outrebounded, outscored, and simply outplayed Lutheran West. The Longhorns were plagued with turnovers, foul trouble, and missed free throws. They could not take advantage of the Hurricanes’ mistakes, while Brooklyn took full advantage of West’s. LW’s defensive pressure and spurts of offense were not enough for the Longhorns to pick up the win.
The Longhorns had one player in double digits, junior Ari Tomasula with 12. Senior Katherine Konstan contributed eight and junior Lindsey Thomas added six.
