COLUMBIA --
Lutheran West faced division rival Columbia on Wednesday night in the Longhorns’ first game after a long holiday break. The game started off with no scoring until four minutes into the first quarter as both teams appeared sluggish on the court in the opening minutes. Junior Ari Tomasula eventually broke the scoreless streak by hitting two free throws that gave the Longhorn offense life. Lutheran West took the lead 2-0 and would never relinquish their lead.

At the end of the first half, the Longhorns led 29-16, with West sharing the scoring load between their starters. Senior Katherine Konstan played tough in the post, grabbing 12 rebounds. With Konstan holding the Raiders to only one shot on offense, the Longhorn offense was able to get out and push the tempo against Columbia.

Lutheran West let Columbia back in the game because they turned the ball over too many times. West led by as many as 15 points when Columbia’s Christine Lyzen caught fire on her way to pouring in 26 points for Columbia, but it just was not enough for the Raiders to take the game away from Lutheran West.
With the victory, West picked up their second conference win of the season. High scorers for this game were junior Lindsey Tomola with 18 and junior Lindsay Thomas with 9.
