BROOKLYN --  The Longhorns regained some ground in the conference race as they took care of business against the Brooklyn Hurricanes 75-56 and watched as leader Columbia lost to Clearview.

Lutheran West came out Friday night ready to win after a loss on Tuesday night to the Clippers. They struggled in the first quarter and were a little slow in starting. The Hurricanes were able to take advantage of the weak ‘Horns and jump out to a one point lead.

But the Longhorns’ play kicked-in in the second quarter. They were unstoppable on offense and scored 28 points in the quarter alone. The team played like they wanted to win and showed a lot of intensity. In addition, they were able to take control of the game and create a tempo that suited them.

LW took the momentum from the second quarter and rolled with it into the second half. They continued to push and never let Brooklyn overtake them. They outscored the Hurricanes in the remaining quarters and sealed up the victory.

The win was exactly what the Longhorns needed. They have two more conference games left in the season, one of which will be against Columbia. The game gave West some good momentum going into the closing stretch and displayed their offensive power which they will need in their upcoming contests.

Lutheran West had four players in double digits in the win. Senior Chris Scott led the Longhorns with a game-high 21 points. Senior Greg Kunze had 16, senior Max Quinn added 15, and junior Andrew O’Hara contributed 13.

West is now 15-4 overall and 11-3 in PAC-12 action.
