ROCKY RIVER --
The Lutheran West men’s basketball team earned their first win of the 2012-2013 season versus Open Door in a non-conference match-up. The team started strong, pulling ahead from the start of the game and never falling behind in their 80-19 win over the Patriots.

The team showed many positives in their victory. First, they looked composed and were able to play together. By focusing on their teamwork, LW was able to eliminate mistakes and play smart basketball. Secondly, West was able to play a stellar defense, limiting the Patriots’ offense and ability to score.

These components allowed the Longhorns to run their own offense, and shoot the basketball, giving every player the opportunity to score. By making fewer mistakes, LW was able to gain and keep control of the game. If the team can come together like this more often, then it is very likely that they can have the successful season that they are striving for.

The Longhorns are now 1-1 overall. They travel to Keystone on Friday night for their first PAC-12 match-up.
