BUCKEYE --  Junior Greg Kunze did double duty last night—and did both jobs admirably—as he was asked to do his own job and fill in for injured point-guard and play-maker junior Chris Scott at the same time.  Kunze did not disappoint.  Not only did Kunze bring the ball down the floor, he also played shooting guard, and led the team in scoring with 20 points.  Struggling to score on the offensive end of the floor since Scott went down, West needed Kunze to have a big game.  Kunze delivered.

Supporting Kunze in the scoring department was the always dependable senior Dan Hillenbrand, who put in 13 points.  Sophomore Andrew O’Hara had a breakout game scoring 14.  Senior Chris Ranc added nine.

Down 31-24 at the half, LW chipped away at the lead in the third quarter and closed the gap to 47-43 by the start of the fourth quarter.  LW then outscored host Buckeye 20-12 in the final period to win the game by four points.

Lutheran West now advances to 1-2 in conference on the season after two tight losses at Keystone and home against Firelands.  LW will look to even their conference record on Tuesday when they travel out to Fairview.  Fairview is also 1-2 on the season after falling to Brookside 58-50 yesterday.  Fairview lost to Buckeye 61-47 last Friday.
