2nd after Day 1 at District

ROCKY RIVER --  The women’s Track & Field team has been working hard over the past two days at their District meets.  Yesterday, six ladies qualified for the Regional Meet.  The 4x800m relay team of freshman Anna Maxwell, junior Amanda Elkins, senior Olivia Vasiloff and sophomore Michaela Bierly advanced to Regionals with their third place finish. Junior Johanna Ragland and freshman Sarah Ragland both qualified in the Shot Put with record breaking performances. Johanna won with a toss of 41-1 which was a personal record and new school record. Sarah set a personal record with a 34-1 throw finishing 3rd overall.
Moving on to District finals on Saturday are both sophomore Lydia Hessler and freshman Kyra Patterson in the 100m, freshman MaQuila Norman in the 200m and 400m, and Vasiloff and Maxwell in the 800m. The 4x100m relay team of sophomore Zaireea Norman, sophomore Claire Gutheil, Hessler and Patterson and the 4x400m relay team of Zaireea Norman, Bierly, Hessler and MaQuila Norman also qualified.  In the process of qualifying to the finals of the 200m, MaQuila set a new school record in 26.35 breaking the old record set way back in 1981.
The ladies return to Midview on Saturday with field events starting at 10:00am and running events beginning at 12:30pm.
