KEYSTONE --  Another day, another awful first inning. In LW’s last four games—all of which they’ve lost, their starting pitching has been shelled in the first inning to the tune of 18 runs. Yesterday senior Will Wagner was hit around in the first inning, allowing seven runs on six hits amid the muck and mire of Penfield Park. Wagner gave up two doubles, a triple, and three singles—all in the first inning.

On the positive side, Wagner did get out of the inning. And even more positive than that, he was able to collect himself and regroup and work a scoreless second. He even was able to get the first two outs in the third before he got tired and eventually was pulled.

Offensively LW did little to help Wagner. Senior Nolan Grenig got a check swing hit in the third. Senior Brandon McCartney was walked in the fourth. Junior Andrew Samoson got a solid base hit in the fifth, and sophomore Kyle DiCapua reached first base after being hit by the pitch in the fifth. Other than that, no one reached base.
