The Play

The students at Lutheran West are eagerly working on the spring musical, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which will be performed April 26th-28th.  The musical is based on a movie of the same name which tells the story of Millie, a young bride, living in the 1850's Oregon wilderness. She decides to refine and marry off her six new rowdy brothers-in-law, but in their enthusiasm the brothers end up kidnapping six women from a neighboring town to be their brides. This turn of events then has a great impact on Millie’s own marriage.

The Cast

This is one of the largest casts at Lutheran West in recent years, with thirty two students filling the stage.  Anna Eden as Millie and Andrew Langner as her new husband Adam lead the group.  The rowdy brothers are played by Bryce Deblock, Tyler Gibson, Kevin Naim, Aadu Pirn, Tyler Wagner and Izaak Zrnich.  The brides-to-be are played by Kaylee Anchulis, Megan Blackburn, Chelsea Burke, Kayleigh Hurst, Madison Maria and Hannah Wetzel.  The six suitors who were courting the girls before the Pontipee brothers show up are Jake Gasiewski, Zach Maria, Tim Mecklenburg, Jacob Mundell, Kyle Voytovich and Grant Zehnder.  The cast is completed by the students who portray various residents of the town: Nathan Albrecht, Natalie Bielawski, Jessica Bradley, Felicia Escandon, Steven Exoo, Valera Ghali, Lydia Hessler, Elise Lemanski, Scott Raimann, Mandi Ressler, Kayla Sweney, and Amy Yang.  It will be the first appearance on the Lutheran West stage for many of the students in this cast.  Assisting director Caroline Pintner is senior stage manager Shannon Dugan.  Mr. Ron Muth is the vocal director for the show.

The Crew

This show could not be possible without the hard work of over 50 students who are working backstage to build and paint the sets, make, purchase and alter the costumes, work on the lighting and sound systems, help with make-up and hair, and work as ushers during the performance.  This number also includes the student musicians in our pit band.  These backstage crews are headed by some of the faculty members here at Lutheran West.  Mrs. Heidi Miller is heading up our set construction and decoration crew, working with students Stephanie Buettner, Robyn Ellett, Justin Furfaro, Alex Fyffe, Alante Garnette, Ryan Hetzel, Will Hrusovsky, Anne Kennedy,Jenny Owens, Kat Panaccione, and Lorissa Reeves. Mrs. Lynn Merriman, Mrs. Sue Valletta and Mrs. Donna Jean Nemeth are assembling and making the costumes with students Angelena Alonge, Emily Chaho, Veronica Chen, Emily Ratvasky, Mlly Vonk, Breanna Walworth, Amy Wang, and Jessie Zhang.  Mrs. Lynn Pangrace is in charge of our ticketing and the student ushers Andrew Barry, Tiffany Geyer, Emilie Hausmann, Eddy Jones, Nicole Krecji, Jenny Kroyer, Maddie MacDowell, Molly McEntee, Miranda Pflaum, Hannah Potantus, and Lia Vanadia.  Mr. Dennis Viers is conducting our pit band made up of several professional musicians and students Jennifer Chlam, Sarah Klass, Emily Moell, Tim Moses, Emilya Sutliff, Joseph Tolenen, and Nolan Zubin.  Other students helping with the play are Rachel Fuhrmann and Holly Wilkens on the props crew, Andrea Ellison, Grace Freigang, Chris Scheffler and Nicole Sperling on lights, and John Handwerk, Amy Klass and Karissa Monson on sound.  The hair and make-up crew is made up of students Jill Bair, Janice Chislow, Alexa Grandberry, Meghan Hollis, Carlyn Jackson, Jessica Mecklenburg and Johanna Webster.
