Lutheran West Football has hired veteran coach Tom Narducci to run the offense for the 2018 season. The Longhorns have also hired Tim McFarland as an Offensive Assistant and Quarterbacks Coach.

Narducci replaces Nick Toth, who accepted a position with the football program at Baldwin Wallace last month. Narducci played high school football at Pittsburgh Central Catholic and went on to play collegiate football at John Carroll University, earning a Bachelors Degree in History as well as a Masters Degree in Education. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Padua High School before taking the head coaching job at St. Joseph Central Catholic, where he still sits second all time in program history for wins. Narducci won five Midland Atlantic Championships and earned the honor of Sandusky Bay Conference Coach of the Year in 1985. He took the Crimson Streaks to the playoffs five times and in 1992, he earned the Northwest Ohio Division V Coach of the Year. Narducci received a Merit Award from the NOFCA for his service to Northwest Ohio Football in 1993.

His success landed him a collegiate job at Ohio University for two seasons before returning to Northeast Ohio to assume the head football coach position at Hudson High School in 1995. Narducci served as the head coach at Hudson for 18 seasons; during that time he garnered the most wins in program history and was the AP Division I Coach of the Year in 2003 when his Hudson team recorded a 10-0 regular season record. During his time at Hudson, he was awarded the Humanitarian Award by Northeast Ohio National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame for his work with special-needs students. In 2002, 2003, and 2004, Narducci was the Western Reserve South Conference Coach of the Year. In 2011, he became the Head Coach at Fairview High School and led the Warriors for six seasons, eclipsing 200 career wins. Narducci spent the 2017 season serving as the Offensive Line Coach at Westlake High School. His lifetime record as a head coach is 207-142-2. Narducci was honored for his career achievements in 2017 as he was selected as a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the OHSAA.

Lutheran West has also announced the hiring of Tim McFarland. McFarland will serve as quarterbacks coach and offensive assistant. McFarland has served as an Assistant Coach under Narducci at Fariview and was also on the Westlake football staff for the 2017 season.

"The Lutheran West Football Program is very excited to have Tom Narducci and Tim McFarland join our team and community," said Lutheran West Football Head Coach Frank Petroff.  "I have known Coach Narducci for many years, dating back to my years as a CYO athlete. I have followed his career through the years and have been impressed with his football teams. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, competitiveness, winning attitude and a great desire to educate young men. I look forward to working with these coaches after many years of competing against them. These are two great additions to our football staff as we continue to make great strides in our process of building our overall football culture at Lutheran West."

Narducci is well-respected in the football community and has served in various professional positions throughout his career. He is currently the Chairman of the Greater Cleveland Football Coaches Association Golden Deeds Awards Banquet. He also served as the President of Greater Cleveland Football Coaches Association for the 2016-2017 season. In 2015-2016, Narducci was the Vice President of the Greater Cleveland Football Coaches Association and from 1986-1988 he acted as President of the Northwest Ohio Coaching Association.

"I am excited about joining the Lutheran West Football Staff," said Narducci. "I know faith, friends and family are emphasized at Lutheran West.  I know this will be the same emphasis in the Football Program with Coach Petroff."

Narducci has also been active in community service with his programs; working with such organizations as the Cleveland Food Bank, Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure, Toys for Tots, Coats for Kids, and Walk in these Shoes Cure for Cancer.

Lutheran West Athletic Director Ryan Miller was also excited about the hire. “The Lutheran West Athletic Department is excited to welcome Coach Narducci to our Football Staff. Tom's life work has been dedicated to the game of football and he is a proven winner. His experience and approach will certainly be an asset to our football community and athletic department. His involvement in Parochial schools will also be a benefit as he understands our identity and mission when working with our student-athletes. Not only have we gained a veteran coach, we have also added a great person with integrity. We also welcome Tim McFarland to our staff. McFarland comes with high praise from the football community regarding his ability to scheme and to strategize on the offensive side of the ball. McFarland's experience and commitment to being a student of the game will add depth to our attack.”

Lutheran West will open the 2018 season at New London High School on Friday, August 24th at 7:00 pm. The Longhorns will play the 2018 season as a member of the Patriot Athletic Conference before joining the Chagrin Valley Conference in 2019.
